Description
Beauty Pool, a hot spring, steams in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States. You can see the Firehole River to the left.
Beauty Pool is connected to the nearby Chromatic Spring. When the water level in one of the two pools rises and overflows, the water level in the other decreases.
The number of thermal features in Yellowstone is estimated at 10,000, and 200 to 250 geysers erupt in Yellowstone each year, making it the place with the highest concentration of active geysers in the world, due to its location in an ancient active caldera.
The Upper Geyser Basin has the highest concentration of geothermal features in the park. This complement of features includes the most famous geyser in the park, Old Faithful Geyser. The other three predictable geysers are Grand Geyser, Daisy Geyser, and Riverside Geyser.
