Description
"Flathead County Courthouse, Montana" by Catherine Sherman
Late afternoon sunshine, the time marked by the arms of the clock, warms the western side of the Flathead County Courthouse.
The courthouse, completed in 1905, is located in Kalispell, Montana.
Designed and built with a clock tower, a clock was only recently added to the front of the courthouse tower.
As of the 2010 census, the population of Flathead County was 90,928, making it the fourth-most populous county in Montana.
Flathead County was founded in 1893. It contains much of Flathead Lake, the Flathead Valley, and the Flathead River. All of these natural treasures, originated by glaciers, are named for the unique geological formation of a broad flat valley surrounded by mountains at the head of a deep glacial lake. It is the third-largest county in Montana by land area and second-largest by total area. The western part of Glacier National Park is located in the county.
The courthouse is part of the Courthouse Historic District, named to the National Register of Historic Places on August 24, 1994.

Thank you very much, Lynn! I love old courthouses. They have a lot of style. I've enjoyed your photos of old courthouses, too.
