Description
"Hibiscus waimeae Square" by Catherine Sherman.
The Hibiscus waimeae is a stunning beautiful flower with its bright white petals contrasting with its bright red pistil and stigma. Here, the Hibiscus waimeae is surrounded by a band of other hibiscus.
This white hibiscus is native to Hawaii and is one of the rare species of fragrant hibiscus species. This beautiful flower is known as aloalo, kokiʻo keʻokeʻo or kokiʻo kea in the Hawaiian language.
The Hibiscus waimeae is endemic to the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaii. Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family (okra), Malvaceae, and contains several hundred species that are native to warm-temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world.
