Description
"Oscar Mayer Wienermobile" by Catherine Sherman.
A Hotdogger (one of two drivers) waves from the top of an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile as it makes it way along the route of the Texas Rose Festival parade in October 2015.
The rose parade is held every year on the third Saturday of October as part of the Texas Rose Festival in Tyler. The festival is a three-day event celebrating the role of the rose-growing industry in the local economy and attracts tens of thousands of visitors.
Six Wienermobiles travel the country. The first Wienermobile was created by Carl Mayer, Oscar Mayer's nephew, in 1936.
I saw my first Wienermobile circling the state capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin, which was the headquarters of Oscar Mayer at the time. Perhaps it was a new driver learning how to maneuver the 27-foot-long dog on a bun.
On November 4, 2015, parent owner Kraft Heinz announced it would move the Oscar Mayer headquarters and the company's U.S. meats business from Madison to Chicago.

Cool thing and great photo! :-) l/f/fb ... But it should be Wienermobile, not Weinermobile.
Catherine Sherman replied:
Thank you, Miroslav! Thanks for the heads up on the spelling. I've fixed it.

How much fun is this!!!! What a fun/delightful capture. Gets me humming their theme song.."oh I wish I had an Oscar Mayer..." hahaha! l/f
Catherine Sherman replied:
Thanks, Lynn! It sure put a smile on my face when the Weinermobile appeared in the parade. That song sure is catchy, too.
