Waves crash on limestone rocks on a beach behind Nipper's Beach Bar and Grill on Great Guana Cay in the Bahamas Islands of the Caribbean. Beautiful fluffy clouds decorate the bright blue sky. The water is many shades of blue and the sand is a lovely creamy white.
Great Guana Cay, a barrier island, is a long, narrow islet, 7 miles (11 km) long, It is in the center of the Abaco Islands. It is about 8 miles from Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island, which has a small international airport. Approximately 150 people live on the island, mostly along the five and a half mile long stretch of beach.
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas is a group of some 700 Islands and nearly 2,500 small islets or cays resting on an immense plateau of tertiary limestone that was formed between 1 and 2 million years ago.
