Description
"Sanborn Covered Bridge, Lyndon, Vermont" by Catherine Sherman.
Sanborn Covered Bridge, shown here in an early October scene, spans the Passumpsic River.
Originally constructed in 1869, the Sanborn Covered Bridge was rebuilt
after the high waters in 1886 wiped out almost all of Lyndonville, Vermont. The bridge was moved to its current location spanning the Passumpsic River in 1960, where it's open to foot traffic. The bridge was built with a Paddleford Truss design.
The bridge is near the junction of U.S. Route 5, and State route 114.
