Description
"1939 Pontiac Sedan Hood Ornament" by Catherine Sherman.
The hood ornament on a 1939 Pontiac two-door sedan seems to rise into the sky. The ornament is on an open hood at an antique car show in Lawrence, Kansas, to raise money for charity.
For the '35 model year, stylist Frank Hershey devised Pontiac's trademark Silver Streak, a wide ribbon of chrome that ran straight down the vehicle's centerline, running forward from the cowl, over the hood and down the front of the radiator. The Silver Streak made Pontiac unmistakable for the next 20 years.
