Description
"A Gallery of Canada Geese on the Golf Course" by Catherine Sherman.
A flock of Canada Geese strut across a snow-covered green on a golf course in Kansas.
The Canada goose (Branta canadensis), sometimes called Canadian goose, is a large wild goose with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body. It is native to the arctic and temperate regions of North America, and it is occasionally found during migration across the Atlantic in northern Europe.
The Canada Goose has become quite at home in urban and suburban areas where there are fields and ponds. Sometimes they stop traffic in my town as they march across the street from one field to another. The managers of this golf course erected a fake coyote to scare away the geese, but they just ignored the poor creature, which slowly disintegrated over the winter.

A mother deer and her fawn spent some time of the green, too, this past fall.
