Least terns (Sternula antillarum) assemble on Money Bayou Beach, along with one gull, as the sun rises over Indian Pass, Florida. Sun beams illuminate the sun.
It is a small tern, 22–24 cm (8.7–9.4 in) long, with a wingspan of 50 cm (20 in), and weighing 39–52 g (1.4–1.8 oz). It breeds in North America and in northern South America.
This photograph finished fourth place overall and third place among group members in the Go Take a Hike Photography Group’s Sunrises/Sunsets in Nature photo contest on Oct. 9, 2020.
