Description
"Otis Cabin, Red Oak II, Missouri" by Catherine Sherman.
In this early Autumn scene, cat tails surround Otis Cabin, a charming little cottage in Red Oak II, Missouri, which is a re-creation of a Midwestern small town. The blue trimmed building consists of a small living room and an upstairs loft. In the foreground is a bird house. A short dock overlooks a peaceful creek.
Otis Cabin was formerly known as the Mother-in-Law's House.
Red Oak II is the brainchild of artist Lowell Davis, who grew up in nearby Red Oak. He began to buy homes, a school, a church, gas stations and other businesses from the original Red Oak townsite and other rural ghost towns, painstakingly moving them to the new site and restoring them to their original “grandeur.
Although a living museum, Red Oak II is also home to several families, who live in historic houses.
