Two horses visiting a water tank in a pasture full of rabbitbrush plants have a great view of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad train as it passes, although they seem bored by this frequent passing. We waved anyway from the open car.
In the background is the Animas River and the San Juan Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountains.
Rabbitbrush is a common name for shrubs, principally of the western United States, in three related genera of the family Asteraceae, the Aster family.
