Visitors await their tour in one of the famous yellow buses in Yellowstone National Park in front of the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. In the background is Mammoth Hot Springs.
The modern fleet consists of eight buses. At the height of their popularity within Yellowstone in the mid-1920s more than 400 of the buses operated in the park.
“Yellowstone had the second largest bus fleet in the country in the mid-20s, second only to Greyhound,” according to a Yellowstone National Park concessionaire.
