Description
"Burned Forest Path, Summit County, Colorado" by Catherine Sherman.
A path winds through the charred remains of a burned pine forest in Silverthorne, Colorado.
This was probably a firebreak to protect houses from a nearby forest fire. Blooming wildflowers, such as lupines, are bright touches of color against the charred landscape of this Rocky Mountain forest. This area in Summit County, at about 9,700 feet, is now a sun-lit meadow that supports new growth.
This photograph was taken in August 2020.
