Description
"Yellow Hibiscus Hawaii State Flower" by Catherine Sherman.
The yellow flower of the Hibiscus brackenridgei, known as maʻo hau hele" in the Hawaiian language, is the state flower of Hawai'i. This species is native to Hawaii and is one of the the seven known species of hibiscus regarded as native to Hawaiʻi.
This species is listed as an endangered species by the USFWS. The yellow flower of this species was made the official state flower of Hawaii on 6 June 1988, and although endangered in its natural habitats, has become a moderately popular ornamental in Hawaiian yards.
At the top of the hibiscus you can see a filament of a spider web dusted with yellow pollen.

I do believe the hibiscus is my favorite flower. The colors are so varied and bright. This is particularly beautiful. fav

Thank you very much, Lynn! There is so much variety and so many beautiful hibiscus colors, they certainly are a favorite of mine, too. I wish we could grow them outside in our climate.
